- Sell any old furniture or items you don’t want, don’t pay to have them relocated if you don’t want them
- Ask questions about items that concern you
- Pack items that you will need upon arrival and take them with you in the car

- Always tape boxes, don’t interlock tops or bottoms

- Remove microwave plate and pack in carton
- Notify neighbours of moving day, so as not to inconvenience them and to make it easier for parking
- Dry out plants prior to move
- Burn off any gas bottles, lamps and gas cylinders
- Keep cleaning equipment apart so you can clean when the removalists have gone
- Save a park out front or where the best access is for removal truck
- Try to keep a clear path from entrance to removal van
- Keep children and pets away from activity
- Don’t hover around removalists and offer suggestions
- BBQ’s should be cleaned of grease. Remove volcanic rock and place them in a strong plastic bag for transportation
